Confused and Unemployed 8(

Labels:

It has been a very difficult time for me lately so I have not been posting unfortunately. I want the blog to succeed but I also need to have a job to financially succeed as well. I have applied to lots of places, had a few interviews but nothing has panned out for me recently.

One thing that upset me was that I applied and interviewed for a job with Garmin, lets be clear I have a customer service background and I have recently received my Associates degree in accounting. I have more then enough skills for the position I applied for. During the interview one of the questions I was asked is "what did you enjoy most about your last job?" In my last job I word at home and scheduled meetings for my clients. I advised what I liked most was that I was not micromanaged and I was able to be creative in how I did my job. I was able to make relationships with the people in the offices I was calling.

At the end of the interview with the person at Garmin, he summarized the entire interview, he stated that I did NOT like being managed and that I prefer to work on my own. This was him taking everything I said out of context and twisting it while making me look bad in the process. This sort of thing should not have happened as it was extremely unprofessional in my opinion.

Something else I have learned is that an educated background is not necessarily a good thing. Before I started going to college I was able to get a job almost instantly. Now that I have a degree I am overlooked when I apply because I am over qualified. How does this make any sense? You are too smart to work here, really? In my experience many of the people I deal with in customer service need to have more education because they have no clue how to do their job.
